Limoncello Tiramisu

Warning! If you dislike lemon or lemon-flavored desserts, then I advise that you click away from this article immediately! You have been warned.

I realize that this will be the third tiramisu recipe that I’ve posted in the past 2 months, but here’s the thing about that…it’s my blog, and I can put whatever I want onto it, so deal with it.

This unique tiramisu, however, takes the usual coffee and cocoa flavor duo and gives it a bit of a citrusy twist with some limoncello-soaked ladyfingers and lemon curd for a dessert that is very bright and tart but also balanced. Even better is that, assuming you buy your ladyfingers, is that this does qualify as an easy no-bake dessert, which I think is very nice.

It’s a recipe that I came across on TikTok, believe it or not, that I thought I’d try myself and it came out quite good.

Serves 4-6

Time: 30 minutes plus chilling

  • 4 egg yolks

  • 2 containers (8 ounces each) of mascarpone cheese

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

  • A pinch of salt

  • 1/3 cup of lemon curd, homemade or store-bought

  • 1/2 cup of Limoncello

  • 1/4 cup of water

  • 36 Ladyfingers (1 1/2 packages)

  • Lemon curd and lemon slices, for garnish

  1. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, mascarpone, sugar, cream, and salt until smooth. Add the lemon curd, then gently whisk to combine, you should notice the mixture thicken.

  2. Combine the Limoncello and water in a shallow bowl. Submerge half of your ladyfingers into the Limoncello mixture for about 30 seconds, or until they absorb some of it, then lay them into an even layer in a 8x8 square baking dish.

(Ok, so I couldn’t find ladyfingers at my grocery store today, so I went with some shortbread cookies that had the same effect.)

  3. Spread half of the mascarpone cream on top of the ladyfingers, followed by another layer of ladyfingers and the remaining cream. Cover the pan, then chill the tiramisu for 3-4 hours, overnight would be even better.

  4. When ready to serve, spread a thin layer of lemon curd on top of the tiramisu, then garnish with some lemon slices.

With this dessert, you get the soft, creamy textures that you’d classically find in tiramisu but the addition of that citrusy lemon for a very bright but balanced dessert that can be made by anyone.
